We are pretty much finished on this mobile unit log cabin. The customers are over the moon with it and we have to agree it does look great.

The insulation used is 80mm celotex in the walls and floor with 100mm of celotex in the roof. This will save the owners in energy costs as well as keeping the building warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Twenty Three Eco Friendly Two and Three Bedroom Holiday Lodges for Sale

The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre are a family partnership of four people, Kelly, Andy, Kath and Mick. In the autumn of 2011 we built the first of 28 cabins for them.

Twenty are to be sold to fund an indoor flying area and an education centre and the remainder would be let as holiday homes giving them an income to support the bird of prey centre and animal park.

Pior to the construction they have consulted with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Natural England, The Environment Agency, Acorn Ecology and South West Water, and will continue to do so through each stage of the development.

The two and three bedroom lodges are constructed using ecological techniques including a choice of grass, sedum or cedar tile roofs and electricity from photovoltaic panels on the roof. Underfloor heating and hot water is provided using an air source heat pump and the sewage disposal is via a reed bed.

The first two bedroom lodge is now complete and available to view.

Two bedroom, timber frame build near St Agnes, Cornwall

This is a lovely little two bedroom residential cabin near St Agnes, Cornwall. It is of timber frame construction and is designed to pass full building regulations for residential use.

Externally the timber cladding is larch. Larch has a high sap content and does not need any extra treatment. It will turn silver with age.

The roof covering is natural slate and there are 6 velux windows fitted.  A log burner is fitted in the living/kitchen area.

There is an ensuite bathroom for each bedroom. One has a beth and the other a walk in shower.

 

Art gallery and residential, St Just, Cornwall

We were very happy to be asked by a local artisit to construct this new art gallery, with residential accomodation above, in St Just, Cornwall.

The construction is timber frame. The first floor exterior is clad with cedar. The ground floor exterior is mainly rendered over the timber frame. The front of the building is a clad in stone and makes the building look very traditional.

Internally there is a polished concrete floor and the whole of the inside is finished in plasterboard and plastered and painted.

Mobile unit, 15m x 6m, Wadebridge, Cornwall

This mobile unit is located near Wadebridge, Cornwall.  The building is 15m x 6m and constructed of 80mm glulam wall logs. There is 80mm celotex insulation all round. A large bi-fold door on one side is perfectly placed to take in the local views. Non slip decking on three sides is a very nice addition.

The customer had a log burner fitted and lives here full time.

Timber frame house extension, cedar clad, Polzeath, Cornwall

This is a timber frame house extension did in Polzeath, Cornwall.

It is a one bedroom extension built to meet current building regulations. The roof is lsate and the exterior timber cladding is cedar. A very popular cladding that requires zero maintenance.

Internally the walls are plasterboarded and skimmed. Windows and doors are softwood casement style.

The owners moved their aga from the existing cottage and installed it into the extension giving them more room in the cottage.
